Index Column

Node Preparation
PreparationData Table→ Data Table

Add a simple row-index column numbered 1 to N — no configuration needed.

Description

Prepends a plain sequential column, numbered 1 through the number of rows in the table. There's nothing to configure — connect a table and it runs automatically, the same way a couple of other very simple nodes in the catalog do.

Best For

  • Giving every row a stable reference number before splitting or filtering a table
  • Restoring original row order after a Sort or Pivot step, by capturing it before that step runs
  • Creating a simple unique key for a table that otherwise has none

How to Use

1Connect your table
Pass any table into Index Column's input.
2Run
No further configuration is needed — the index column is added automatically.

Tips & Notes

Place it before any row-reordering step
Add Index Column early if you want a record of the original row order — run it before Sort, Pivot Columns, or anything else that reshuffles rows.
